Nh doelen is the oldest hotel of amsterdam and had and still have a variety of famous and artisitic guests including queen victoria, the beatles and the empress sissi who has a room named after her. Rembrandt painted the world famous 'night watch' on the third floor of the hotel. There are canal view rooms and you can enjoy breakfast whilst overlooking the amstel river.Nh doelen is well situated for those wishing to explore amsterdam’s city centre.For lunch and dinner are recommend the schiller brasserie, in the sister hotel nh schiller, which is just on the other side of the square, in a beautiful, historic restaurant, decorated in an art deco design.The schiller brasserie offers the best of typical dutch cuisine in a classic ambience, characterised for the 450 works of friedrich schiller and the stained-glass windows displayed in the restaurant. It is also possible to organise informal receptions in the restaurant.
